Michael Yam is a budding orthopaedic surgeon, currently undergoing training in the National Healthcare Group cluster, Singapore. A keen researcher, he is in concurrent training to become a clinician scientist.
Dr Yam has undergone orthopaedic and surgical training as part of the Orthopaedic residency program, having achieved MRCS and MMed Ortho accreditation.
Passionate about research, he was successfully awarded various small grants and is currently running 3 prospective clinical trials. Dr Yam has published in local and overseas journals, with his research presented in conferences of a global stage. He is pursuing his PhD with NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at present, through his National Medical Research Council Research Training award.
His experiences in leadership and mentoring roles extend into his extracurricular activities, where he was the medical officer in charge in the 1st Commando Battalion during his National Service, and continues to be the 11th Commando Battalion Medical Officer in-charge in his NSMen period. Dr Yam is also active in his church activities as a cell group leader for youths in the last 9 years.
