Professor Michael Nilsson, MD, PhD, is the Director of Centre for Rehab Innovations (CRI) and Global Innovation Chair of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Newcastle (UON), Australia since 2018. He is the immediate-past Director of the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) and Burges Professor of Medical Science, Newcastle, Australia 2012-2018. Prior to his appointment at HMRI, he was the Director of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Neuro Division; and Director of Research and Development at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden 2000-2012. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FAFRM, RACP) since 2016, Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Gothenburg (UOG), Sweden (2006), qualified for full Professorship Neurology (2008), Specialist in Neurology (2000, National Board of Health and Welfare, NBWH), Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine (2000, NBWH), PhD Neurobiology UOG 1992, MD, UOG 1990. He is a Visiting Professor and Senior Advisor at the LKC School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and the Rehabilitation Research Institute Singapore (RRIS), Visiting Professor at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia and University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and Honorary Professor at the Florey Institute, Melbourne.
