Malar, a Singapore Registered Psychologist, has been working with children and youth for more than 30 years. She started her career in education as a teacher, switching to become a counsellor. She also provided support during school crises. She moved on to provide clinical supervision of school counsellors, supervised the supervisors and was involved in policy development and research in school counselling in Ministry of Education till May 2022. She is currently the Head of the University Counselling Centre at NTU. She is an active volunteer in the community supporting children and youth, as well as conducting training in mental health and crisis management.
