Bio

Mark is an assistant professor of Design at the Singapore Institute of Technology and sits on the Sustainability Education Committee which oversees the introduction of sustainability programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. He was recently the university-level module coordinator for Design Innovation, a module that 6000 thousand students undertake every academic year. Mark received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne, and his Master of Science in Environmental Management from the National University of Singapore.

Mark ran his own architecture and interior design practice prior to joining SIT full time and has crafted and overseen projects from lighting installations to conservation shophouses and multi-unit high rise residential development. He is a member of the Singapore Institute of Architects and served on its Sustainability Committee in 2009, during which he was a contributor for the institute’s policy paper on the attributes of a sustainable built environment. His current research interests are in human-centered design, design innovation, systems thinking and urban food systems, all which is underpinned by a drive for sustainability.
