Bio

Dr Chen is an infectious disease epidemiologist with an MBBS and a PhD in epidemiology. He holds a joint appointment at the Ministry of Health where he oversees the development of infectious disease surveillance systems. He also leads the philanthropically funded SOCRATEs (Strengthening Our Community’s Resilience Against Threats from Emerging infections) research programme which has been used to monitor public perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore. The SOCRATEs research programme is funded by the estate of the late Irene Tan Liang Kheng.
