A/Prof Daniel Chew graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998. He subsequently underwent specialty training and practiced in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Singapore. In 2008, Dr Chew received the Health Manpower Development Program Fellowship Award, which allowed him to undergo training at the Oxford Centre of Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism (OCDEM).
Presently, Adj. A/Prof Daniel Chew is Head and Senior Consultant in the Endocrinology Department at TTSH. His personal research interest is in diabetes mellitus and the reduction of its long-term complications. He chairs the National Healthcare Group Diabetes Mellitus Steering Committee which coordinates diabetes related initiatives for the cluster. He is also the co-chairperson for the NTU-NHG DECiP2heR Programme (Diabetes & Endocrinology Collaborative initiative for Population and Phenome bioResource Programme).
Apart from his administrative duties, Adj. A/Prof Chew has an interest in teaching. He received the Best Teacher Award TTSH (Senior Category) in 2009 and NHG Excellence in Teaching Award in 2010.
